Funeral Services in the Czech Republic in Russian
What challenges does the Russian-speaking community in the Czech Republic face?
The death of a loved one can be paralyzing. In that state, we’re ready to accept the very first offer from a funeral home that’s nearby or that was recommended by the hospital. Such services generally do not take into account the specificities of other cultures and are unable to offer solutions beyond the standard script. As a result, guests listen to a few standard funeral pieces in the crematorium hall, as is customary in the Czech Republic, and then go home, since the next family is already waiting behind the glass.
We are a small Czech company with 20 employees. For over 6 years, we have been organizing funeral services throughout the Czech Republic. We now offer our services in Russian as well.
What do Funeral Guides offer?
We complement the traditional ceremony of your culture with modern elements—for those who are less religious. In such a ceremony, everyone will be able to say a dignified farewell to the deceased and feel that everything went exactly as it should have. To feel a sense of relief.
We have a good relationship with Orthodox priests and can arrange for a priest to officiate your ceremony.
To bring the whole family together—whose members are often scattered across different countries and even continents—we host live online broadcasts of funerals. Only your loved ones who have been invited to the ceremony will have access to the broadcast.
Bringing Together Continents, Cultures, and Generations
We offer much more beautiful and picturesque venues for ceremonies than the walls of a crematorium or funeral home. These are places that create a bright and peaceful atmosphere. They include natural landmarks, historic estates and castles, cathedrals and chapels, galleries, a planetarium, and a botanical garden.
Special Venues for Ceremonies
A ritual that helps
Our traditional ceremony is a celebration of the deceased’s life. We write a eulogy that reflects the person’s character and is filled with heartwarming stories from their life. We select music and songs that were meaningful specifically to you.
We provide a space for remembrance—you can share stories from the life of your loved one, express your gratitude to them, send a message to your loved one through a letter-burning ritual, set a boat adrift on the river, or send a message into the sky on balloons. You can find more options for farewell ceremonies on our website.
A Personalized Approach
All the ceremonies we conduct are unique and custom-designed. We plan each ceremony so that it is not only beautiful but, most importantly, helps the deceased’s loved ones cope with their loss.
A non-traditional funeral service is our standard approach.

Alternatives in the Czech Republic
Most funeral services do not allow changes to be made to the funeral program. Our clients who have attended such ceremonies often complained about problems with arranging the location and time of the funeral, as well as with obtaining the necessary permits. It was not uncommon for a funeral home to promise that it would take care of everything, but in the end, nothing worked out, and the funeral did not go at all as the deceased’s family had wanted.
One possible alternative is to organize the ceremony yourself within your community. This not only helps you save money but also allows you to process your grief more meaningfully. The more involved you are in the process of planning the funeral, the easier it is to come to terms with the fact that your loved one is no longer with you.
Another option is to combine the services of a traditional funeral home with those of an event planning agency (such as a music or even a wedding planning agency) and a professional master of ceremonies.
What makes the "Funeral Guides" service unique?
Comprehensive supportat
Our work begins even before death occurs and continues after the funeral. We provide support to the dying person and their family, coordinate with government agencies to obtain the necessary documents, prepare the body, and find a burial site; at the same time, we can obtain permission from the Air Traffic Control Authority to release balloons.
Empathy
We respect all traditions, even the most unusual ones, and strive to fulfill all of the family’s wishes. You can read our clients’ reviews to see for yourself. We often work with families who have disagreements about the funeral, and we manage to find a solution—and sometimes even reconcile people. Love for the departed proves stronger than any dispute.
Our Connections and Opportunities
We can work out almost anything. We have the necessary connections with people who help us obtain permits to hold ceremonies at more than 1,000 beautiful locations. People support us because they see how our services help others.
Legal Support
We will prepare all the necessary documents and explain what actions are permitted or prohibited at funerals in the Czech Republic. For example, we’ll explain where you can scatter the deceased’s ashes or what non-traditional rituals you can perform. Often, the law allows for much more than is commonly believed.
Who is our offer suitable for?
We help those who want to combine tradition with modernity, bid a dignified farewell to a loved one in a beautiful setting—whether in nature or in the city—and bring several generations together. We help those who have their own vision of how the farewell ceremony should unfold. For those who want their wishes—and those of their loved one—to be truly taken into account and fulfilled. For those who want to celebrate the life their loved one lived.
Where should I start?
Our colleagues Tatiana and Oleg handle funeral arrangements in Russian, with the support and assistance of our team.
Write or call us, and together we’ll work out the next steps. All matters can be handled online or in person. We won’t pressure you into anything or rush you into making “here-and-now” decisions, because we know it takes time to come to terms with your loss and make a well-considered decision. We also know what a relief it is to plan a farewell thoughtfully—when it’s not just a formal choice from a catalog, but a carefully considered, personal journey.
